Chapter 17

THE BITE

I SIT IN BED, MY shower-damp hair hanging down my back. Orlando combs his fingers through it, stopping to kiss my shoulder, then my neck, gently trailing his tongue over my healing bite mark. His fingers slide around me to brush over another one at the top of my breast, and then he kisses a third on the back of my shoulder. But they’re nothing compared to the marks I left on him.

Sliding my hands up, I hug his arms to me. “And you said I’d be the one to beg you to drain me dry.”

Deep laughter erupts near my ear, his body shaking against me with the movement. “My brothers weren’t joking about the wonders of your mouth, Jewel. While I’d gladly die in utter ecstasy under you, I’d fight to live to experience such a thing over and over. Your need—I have a strong desire to satiate you above myself.”

I get off the bed to stand between his legs only to turn around to face him. “You have always loved feeding me. I wouldn’t deny fulfilling your desires again, if you’d like.”

He grins in my arms and pulls me to him, kissing me until I push him back and climb on top of him. I lean down to caress my lips to his neck, but he flips me off and kisses mine instead, pinning me down with his weight in a way that ignites my lust to set my body ablaze.

Slowly easing up, he meets my gaze, his eyes flashing silver. “Jewel, I want nothing more than to give into you again.”

“Then do it.” My voice comes out softly, pleading for him to close the space between us.

His jaw tightens and he suppresses a frown. “We only have a few more minutes. We’ve missed our Blood Vow celebration completely.”

I inhale a sharp breath and push him back so that I can sit up. “Shit. The whole thing?”

“No one cares, Jewel.”

“But Diego, Austin, and Kingston—”

“Are slightly bored, jealous, hungry, and in serious need of cuddles, but fine.” Kingston’s voice trickles through the door, drawing my attention away from Orlando.

“Dude,” I say. “I thought you all would be enjoying the party.”

“We did,” Austin says. “Don’t let Kingston mess with you. We’ve only been out here for a bit.”

Kingston chuckles. “That shower sounded amazing, though. I’ve never heard you make that noise before. Hot.”

Orlando grins and I smack him on the chest, my whole body bursting into tingles and heat, a mixture of embarrassment and pleasure all at once.

“I’d punch Kingston for pointing that out, but he’s right, beautiful,” Diego says.

Both he and Kingston groan a second before two thuds sound through the air. I rub my face with my hands and leave Orlando on the bed to cross the room to the double doors. I swing them open to find Diego and Kingston sitting on the edge of one bed, looking suspicious as all get-out as they pretend to have been sitting there all this time. Austin sits
